Next Door Crimes: Unusual Suspects

Imagine the mini-universe of a picturesque small town set in a beautiful landscape. It’s your typical small city really, except for their unusual love of lawsuits, which in every case seems to involve not only the police, the courts and the local bureaucrats, but all the townsfolk as well. The dead body of a woman is found on Main Street. When Criminal Investigator Mark and Commissar Rebecca take on the case, they can’t possibly imagine the complexities behind the crime that await them.

The corpse is identified as a journalist who was doing research for an article on local people who have, in the past, been found guilty of committing a criminal act under the influence of alcohol. At first it seems as if the journalist was killed by one of her research targets, someone who might have been terrified of the exposure.

But as the Investigators stumble upon more clues it becomes clear that the reason the journalist was writing this report had more to do with her own past – and her own desire for revenge.

A number of difficulties threaten to stall the investigation. The two investigators are in constant conflict, the wrong suspect has already been jailed, and Mark is sidetracked by his pressing need to file for a divorce from his wife Anette. Due to the time-consuming case, he’s had absolutely no chance. They’ve got to bring this investigation to a successful end, and quickly!
