A naked body is found in the washing machine of a hotel. For investigators Mark and Rebecca, the case presents a number of baffling questions. Had the murderer hoped to destroy any trace of his DNA by washing the body in hot water? Was it a crime of passion?

The body is identified as Georg Wittke, a physiotherapist whose schedule was always full. As the investigators soon learn, Georg didn’t just give women massages...he had affairs with most of them as well. Even Mark’s ex-wife Anette was one of Georg’s clients! Mark can hardly suppress his jealousy…until he is distracted by the sexy new lawyer Carla Gern. When she starts flirting with Mark, he readily responds…but is it genuine love, or is he simply getting revenge on Anette?

Meanwhile, Mark and Rebecca’s investigation lead them in a promising new direction – a husband whose wife had cheated on him. Unfortunately the man suffers from short-term memory loss, which makes unearthing the truth a difficult chore. All the evidence points to him as the murderer, or at least as an accomplice, so Mark is forced to resort to unconventional methods to solve the case…

Although the suspect does remember some past details and even confesses to the crime while under hypnosis, troubling inconsistencies still remain. Then finally, everything falls into place – the hotel, a past fire, the man with the memory loss and the victim’s family…
