Next Door Crimes: Cheers!

Investigators Mark and Rebecca are faced with a baffling case in which Alois Beilinger, the head of a brewery, is found drowned in a barrel of his own beer. Soon they uncover the first possible motive, when ultrasound images from his illicit lover’s womb showing a four month-old embryo appear.

This quickly raises the question of whether Beilinger’s wife had learned of his secret affair and killed him. But there are as well other possible suspects. Beilinger’s older son Luis, furious that his father had taken the future management of the brewery out of his hands and given it to his younger brother Frank, could have killed him in a vengeful fit.

Or even Frank Beilinger himself, who, impatient to get the brewery under his own control, refused to wait until his father died from natural causes and decided to take matters into his own hands.
Beilinger’s old rival Ewald Schendler also had a motive, for it was Alois Beilinger who had deviously taken advantage of his rival’s rocky financial situation to pull off a cunning takeover of Schendler’s Brewery.

At this point Mark and Rebecca are faced with a huge range of tantalizing questions… with none of the answers in obvious sight. As if this case were not enough of an energy drain, the pressures of Mark and Rebecca’s ever-complicated personal lives are also taking their toll…
