Killer Virus

A mutation of the H5N1 virus, one transferable between humans, hits an unsuspecting world with widespread and tragic results. Although the first outbreak took place in Vietnam, the virus spreads with dizzying speed to all corners of the globe – and no one seems to be able to stop its terrifying progress…

After just a few days the killer flu has already reached Germany. The first victim is Martin Steiner, a healthy young man with a beautiful wife. The pair has just returned from a trip to Australia, when suddenly Martin becomes severely ill.

He is quickly transported to a highly quarantined infectious disease ward in a Munich hospital, but it is too late. With his body already greatly damaged by the rapidly advancing virus and the doctors clueless as to how to save him, in three days Martin is dead.

The nurse on duty is the compassionate Sabine Becker. It is she that tends to Martin Steiner while he is vainly battling for his life in the sealed-off ward. Making every sacrifice, Sabine works relentlessly during the months-long pandemic doing whatever she can to help.

Worldwide, as in Germany, public life comes to a standstill. Chaos and anarchy erupt out of a widespread hopelessness because there simply isn’t enough medicine, food and support for the population. Faced with an impossible situation, the government quickly loses control

Sabine is able to save the lives of hundreds of people, but just as the pandemic is subsiding, despite all of the safety measures that she had personally taken to protect both she and her two children, Sabine contracts a highly resistant form of the virus…
