Factor 8

Flight Air Germany 111 is on its way back from Thailand to Germany when several passengers suddenly develop serious flu symptoms… followed by internal bleeding.

Anne Hecker, the only doctor on board, tries in vain to contain the deadly virus and protect her daughter Julie.





When Anne herself becomes one of rapidly increasing number of infected people, it seems that the fate of all aboard is sealed.

Chaos breaks out, sick passengers are segregated, and a regime of terror is established.






The pilots quickly realize they must land to survive, but every airport along their route denies them permission – even threatening to shoot the plane down if they ignore the order. In the meantime, the Thai government shuts off the island where the disease broke out.







Finally there is a glimpse of hope. Anne discovers that a shot of ”Factor 8“, a blood coagulant, seems to solve the problem. In a fight for the last ampoule on board one man is fatally injured.

On the ground, an emergency task force is struggling for a solution. The Airbus is directed to a German military airbase near the Czech border where it is put under strict quarantine.



A team of doctors headed by Professor Ahlers descends on the plane’s stricken passengers to offer medical aid and to determine the nature of the lethal virus.

After more supplies of ”Factor 8“ are delivered on board, the rapidly mutating virus responds by thickening the patients’ blood to the point where they die an agonizing death.




Then horrific news from Thailand: the island has been bombed with napalm, leaving everybody killed. Is this the only solution? Shall the passengers be sacrificed in order to save millions of people throughout Europe?








Not trusting the government’s emergency task force to find a solution in their favor, the desperate travelers demand to be brought to a remote Pacific island where they can safely wait for a cure to be developed. The German Health Minister Petersen refuses point-blank: if the Airbus crashed, the plague would spread out-of-control!





Anne’s husband Gregor races to the scene – defying all of Airbase Commander Brandt’s orders. He decides to fly himself after the last of the pilots is injured during another fight.

But Brandt has no intention of ever letting any of the passengers leave the plane again…
