Golden Camera Nominee '07: Best German Movie
An intensely thrilling story of 8 days in one man’s life, which builds to its gripping climax over the course of 8 riveting episodes! | Crime | Miniseries, 8 x 45’
Six months after a serious car accident, police officer Paul leaves the hospital a changed man. He is suffering from massive amnesia, his memories torn to shreds, leaving him only aware of small traces of his former life. One partial memory is of his wife Lili, who died just before his accident, shot dead by an unknown assailant.
He sets out to find her murderer and regain his memory with the help of his former partner Boris. But can he really trust him? On the surface, Boris is friendly and helpful, but beneath lurks a soul corrupted by power, greed and drugs. Influential gangsters are pulling his strings, crooks that are dead-set on preventing Paul from stirring up the past.
Soon, Paul’s investigation reaches a confusing impasse. The police present to him a dead man as the supposed perpetrator – a corpse who conveniently for them can’t refute the allegation. Paul remains doubtful and pushes on with his investigation. When he proves that the dead suspect is innocent, the question remains: who killed his wife?
On his own, he has to battle against his frustrating loss of memory. It’s a continual fight to remember his family and friends, most importantly of which is his son Finn, who is his most hopeful connection to the memories of a happier past.
But remembering that past puts him in grave peril, as his inquiries not only lead him back to his own shady history as a policeman, but also deeper and deeper into a mired swamp of corruption, drugs and prostitution, where power-hungry politicians and organized crime intermix.
There are powerful people who will stop at nothing to end Paul’s investigation…
