Stefanie Richter, a single mom and owner of a small dry cleaning shop in Berlin, falls madly in love with the pilot Kai, who invites her to an unforgettable holiday in Mexico.









But after only one romantic night, Kai disappears… a trail of blood through the apartment is all that’s left. The Mexican police automatically believe that Stefanie has murdered her lover and she’s placed under arrest.








Alone in Mexico, with the promised diplomatic support never arriving, she is horrified of what lies ahead – years isolated behind the terrifying bars of a corrupt Mexican prison.









The months pass, and after a year of fearful and desperate imprisonment, the lawyer assigned to her case finally appears. A cynical alcoholic, Paul Linke wastes no time explaining her situation. She’s has only one chance to get out of this hellhole: Escape!







With the help of Paul and a faked ID she manages to flee and evade the rabid efforts of the police to recapture her. Weary and nearing her end, she makes it back to Germany only to find that everything’s changed – her previous life has vanished.







Stefanie’s dry cleaning shop has a new owner, her house is up for sale, her Grandma has suffered a stroke and her best friend Andrea has disappeared together with her son Timmy.









After a desperate search Stefanie locates Timmy and Andrea in another suburb. Now comes the biggest shock of all: They live together with the supposedly dead pilot Kai in a beautiful mansion! Aided by the lawyer Paul, she learns that her “best friend” Andrea had set her up from the very beginning. The reason was money… lots of money, and that greed has now put little Timmy’s life in great danger…
