Max Kerner seems to live a very normal life with his wife Andrea and teenage son Lukas. But the reality is far from it: a mild-mannered antiquarian by day, the fall of darkness sees Max turn into that notorious gentleman thief, “The Fox”, who has made it his business – together with his partners Sandra and René – to take from the rich and give to the poor.
His wife Andrea is aware of his alter ego and helps him where she can, but will they be able to hide his secret identity from Max’s mother Martha?
The corrupt banker Leo is the Fox’s target this time around, but regrettably an attempt to steal his valuable Michelangelo statuette fails. 
Now, in order to convince the banker that his precious statuette is just a simple forgery, Max and his team will have to assume a number of clever disguises. When they convince Leo that the statuette is worthless, he is all too willing to sell it to an Indian maharaja– the Fox in disguise – for a couple of million dollars.
But what he doesn’t know is that he is getting paid with his own dirty money that Max has already snatched from the banker’s henchmen with a daring scheme…
But the unexpected visit of his mother Martha threatens to throw Max for a loop, because the two of them are constantly bickering. 
Especially when she brings along her old flame, Chief Inspector Schander, it definitely makes the situation difficult. Particularly after they’ve had a taste of the cookies that Lukas has baked, which are secretly spiked with a “special ingredient”. Martha, Andrea and Schander devour the entire plate, completely oblivious to the chaotic consequences that are already set into motion…
