A paraglider crashes in the mountains, scrambling the Alpine Clinic team into high alert. During the dangerous large-scale rescue operation, a pregnant woman is severely injured and rushed to the hospital. Dr. Daniel Guth succeeds in saving the baby, but for the young mother all help comes too late.
The clinic manager Miriam Berghoff and Dr. Guth put all of their efforts into locating the father of the baby, only to finally find him within their own ranks: the young medical orderly Thomas.
The distraught paraglider pilot Florian blames himself for the accident. While attempting to give him emotional support and helping him banish his self-destructive thoughts, Dr. Linda Singer loses her heart to her patient. At the same time, a quantity of morphine has vanished in the hospital. 
Hertha, the head nurse, suspects that one of the patients has become addicted and now undertakes a thorough investigation to solve the case as quickly as possible.
Maria, the young friend of Miriam’s son, Frederik, faints during a picnic. Dr. Guth suggests that a hereditary disease had caused the spell, but the girl’s parents vehemently deny having any genetic abnormalities. Finally, the mother confesses that Maria is not her husband’s biological daughter. 
Then Mayor Rosner receives a visit from his sister, Nadja. Daniel happens to notice that Nadja suffers from blurred vision, so when he sees an empty boat drifting on the lake, he fears for the worst. Swiftly reacting, Daniel races against time to save her life...
