Markus Winter, the manager of a beautiful hotel in Beijing, is busy preparing an extraordinary German – Chinese wedding with the help of his daughter Leonie.
Everyone knows of the event except for the bride’s father, because Anna is afraid to tell her dad that she will marry her Chinese fiancé David and therefore remain in the country forever.
Since the death of his wife he has become increasingly dependent on her, but Anna is hoping that after he gets to experience the magnificent and beautiful Chinese culture he’ll understand why she finds the country so delightful.
However, when Karl does happen to find out about the wedding he feels that Anna has betrayed him. To make matters worse, David has a hard time understanding why her father’s approval is so important and begins to doubt her love. Anna is becoming desperate, because she is also secretly pregnant…
In the meantime, Leonie is getting to know Fabian, a young man who became paralyzed after a tragic motorcycle accident. The pair attend a performance given by Shaolin monks and are both fascinated.
