Looking forward to joining his daughter Leonie to help celebrate her birthday, Markus Winter travels to one of the most beautiful dream hotels in the Siethoff group. The idyllic vacation retreat, located on one of the most pristine islands in the Maldives, is under Leonie’s supervision.
Shortly after arriving, his attention is drawn to hotel manager Alexander Wiegend, whose obviously stressed-out condition hardly reflects the mood expected at such an exotic and relaxing holiday destination. 
Making matters worse, Markus discovers the suitcase delivered to him is not his own. While Leonie sorts out the luggage confusion, Alexander busies himself with reading the personal diary of the wayward suitcase’s true owner – Sandra Bohland. He is deeply touched by her most private thoughts…
In the meantime, Markus runs into his old flame Eva and her daughter Nikola, who are vacationing at the hotel. Doing the math, Leonie suspects that Nikola, who is unaware of her father’s true identity, is actually her half-sister. Could Leonie be right? Do she and Nokia indeed share the same father?
Stefan is confronted with problems of a completely different sort. Not only is his daughter Lena having an extremely difficult time coping with her mother’s death, she is stubbornly unwilling to accept Stefan’s new relationship with Greta. 
Despite all of Greta’s sincere efforts to reach out to her, Lena only further retreats into her self-isolation. After a fiery argument, Lena seems to have simply disappeared…
