Laura, a goldsmith, runs a gallery in Berlin. Since the tragic death of her fiancé five years ago in a car accident, she’s lived alone with her daughter and is unwilling to get involved with another man.
But one day just before Christmas, while she’s visiting her fiancé’s grave, Laura meets a mysterious old man who makes a startling prophecy - all of her wishes will come true if she just writes them down!
A few days later, Laura meets the widower Sebastian Dobel, the owner of a chocolate factory. Although they spend very little time together, the two are intensely attracted to each other.
Unfortunately, Sebastian must go back to Salzburg, where another woman, the elegant Margot, is patiently awaiting the return of her love. That very night, thinking of the old man’s strange advice, Laura puts down her greatest wish on paper: LOVE. Will it come true?
Later that week, she travels to Salzburg where she’s been invited to attend a crafts fair.
During her stay, Laura is robbed of all her jewelry by a gang of kids. However, her angry frustration from the experience soon turns to joy when one of the kids, obviously having a change of heart, returns all of the stolen jewelry to Laura at her hotel. She could not possibly guess that the boy is Sebastian’s son Peter, who feels neglected by his dad.
During a party at the chocolate factory, Sebastian’s mother announces her son’s engagement to Margot. Soon afterwards, a valuable ring belonging to the Dobel family disappears. Although Margot seems to have won Sebastian, her jealousy still compels her to cause suspicion for the theft to fall on Laura. Up to this point, Laura’s wishes have not yet been heard…
