Anna is married to a top manager and respected member of Hamburg’s high society.
When her husband is found guilty of committing fraud resulting in a multi-million dollar loss, she is declared responsible and is forced to give up not only all of her wealth, but her social status as well.
Having no alternative but to start again from scratch, Anna gets her second chance far from the elite world that rejected her – as the owner of a vegetable stand at Vienna's market.
Faced with numerous difficulties, humiliations and intrigues, Anna often wants to quit. Only the strength of her character and Bernhard keep her in business.
