Most of the well-educated women leave Ben’s little hometown to find their happiness in the big city, which does not bother Ben at all. He does not understand why his buddies Mario and Steffen are upset.
Mario is a farmer who attempts to make up for his lack of good looks with humor. For a long time, he has been secretly searching for a partner by posting ads in a lonely-hearts column.
Steffen, an IT specialist, is presently unemployed and concerned about losing his girlfriend Doreen to the city. And all the ones remaining find the talented cabinetmaker Ben attractive and irresistible – despite his strong fear of commitment.
Everything changes when Maja returns from Milan to sell her aunt Charlotte’s weaving mill. Having before been an ugly duckling, she has now become a beautiful woman Ben cannot resist. That does not stop him from deceitfully trying to get his hands on Maja’s mill, with Steffen’s help, for far less than its market value.
Maja has no suspicions about his offer, and after their meeting turns into a night of drinking and having fun together, she ends up in his bed. The next morning Ben does not know what to do – the butterflies in his stomach are confusing him. Should he continue with his less-than-honest bid for the mill? What is now even more important: how can he stop Maja, who has opened up his heart, from returning to Milan?
Then Maja finds out about his plan and never wants to see Ben again. She invalidates the contract and informs Ben and Steffen that not only is she keeping ownership of the mill and returning to Milan, but also she is going to take Doreen with her.
The two friends become extremely anxious, and oddly enough, it is Mario that comes to their aid. Luckily for Ben and Steffen, Maja had explained to the unhappy farmer what it is that women really want.
Mario starts to coach the two, but will a little training in female desire be enough to get a woman like Maja back?
