Eight years ago, Jan left Paula at a gas station in the middle of nowhere … and it still hurts. While she was paying the bill he simply disappeared without a word, stepping into someone’s car and vanishing without a trace.
Despite being abandoned and the many years that have gone by, Paula just can’t get Jan out of her mind. Her roommate Josh knows all about it: He witnessed the gas station drama while looking for a ride and found Paula, who was completely devastated. Today they are best friends, despite her problems with relationships.
But the past always manages to catch up. One sunny day Paula receives an invitation – for Jan’s wedding! Paula is immediately dead-set on not going, but Josh sees it differently. “This guy left you like an old suitcase. Now, it’s payback time“. The plan is that Josh and Paula show up as a couple. But just before the big day, Josh breaks his leg and is forced to stay in the hospital.
The whole plan threatens to collapse until her neighbor Ben enters the picture. Paula always manages to block his car in with hers, but even though he’s found it annoying, he’s always found her attractive. 
So when he turns up at her door with a hairpin that she had lost, Paula has an idea. “Would you like to accompany me to a wedding?“ He goes for it, and so Ben and Paula, who hardly know each other, show up at the wedding of Jan and his snobbish bride at the posh Grand hotel.
Despite having been warned, Paula can hardly resist her ex-boyfriend’s charm. Ben, whose attraction for Paula is quickly becoming far more, finds himself wrestling with concern and jealousy, but his is not the only heart that’s having a rough time…
