When Ines learns that her teenage love, Hauke, has died, she decides to go to her old school and relive the memories with a bottle of wine. But as she awakens from her alcohol binge, she finds herself back in 1986, shortly before her graduation! She sees the 16-year old girl that she once was, and becomes determined to help that girl boost her chances for romance.
Pretending to be her aunt “Annie” who has been in the USA for a number of years, Ines starts to work on the girl, helping her modify her looks and behavior in order to be noticed by Hauke and her classmates. 
Meanwhile, “Annie” meets her former teacher Marc, with whom she quickly falls in love. But as far as Hauke goes, Ines slowly realizes that he is not quite the cool guy she had once thought him to be. 
Although his enthusiasm for writing has influenced the young Ines’ creativity, Hauke steals a story that she has written, presents it as his own and wins a prize for it! It is only through Marc’s help that “Annie” discovers the fraud…
During the graduation ball, “Annie” is suddenly propelled back to the present, right into the press conference for her new book about a journey back to the eighties! 
She meets Marc, who has come to congratulate his former student on her success, but who instead finds his lost love “Annie”. They run into each other’s arms, but suddenly Ines realizes Hauke is on the verge of death…
