The smart and beautiful Karla is a first-year apprentice witch. The delightful pleasure of her daily sorcery fades, however, when the Lord of Darkness demands a soul for his birthday present. This year it happens to be Karla’s turn to supply the gift.
At first she refuses, but finally gives in when she discovers this to be the only chance of reversing a spell cast on her father and having him changed from an old tree back into human form.
While Karla is dealing with her magical dilemma, the tabloid press journalist Harry Jacobs has accepted an assignment to write a sensational and revealing story about witches in Berlin. A notorious womanizer, Harry meets the attractive Karla and figures on mixing a bit of pleasure with business.
Karla, for the sake of her father, has started her “soul” search for the Lord of Darkness. It would have to be a soul that nobody would miss, so when she meets the scheming heartbreaker Harry, she considers him to be the perfect victim. In time, she instead winds up falling for Harry’s charm and they start dating. 
Rather than preparing her eventual victim for delivery to her dark lord, though, she’s now desperate to keep Harry’s soul intact – she’s fallen in love with him…
