Leon Bischoff works as a pastry chef at a hotel that is preparing to host an international energy conference. While working late to put the finishing touches on a birthday cake for his 15 year-old daughter, Romy, Leon meets the attractive Katja Klimova, who works for the Russian Ministry of International Affairs and is the closest confidant of the Russian minister for energy, Antonin Sokurov.
The next day, while Leon waits for his daughter’s arrival by train, a man suddenly flashes a newspaper’s front page in his face. It’s a shocking picture of him and his daughter under the bold headline: “Assassin commits suicide! Daughter in good health!”
Before he can straighten his thoughts out, the man has disappeared and Romy arrives. Desperately needing to understand the bizarre news, the still-dazed Leon takes Romy to an amusement park… where she is kidnapped! He is then contacted and forced to make a terrible choice – either he poisons the dessert meant for the Russian minister, or his daughter will be killed!
Left completely off-balance, Leon feels forced to comply with the kidnapper’s demands and he executes the murderous plan. After escaping the heavily secured hotel, Leon is ordered back to the amusement park. There, instead of finding his daughter, it’s a gun that awaits him. To save the life of his daughter he must now sacrifice his own…
Leon immediately becomes the main suspect, with only the criminal profiler Schreiber doubting his guilt. At the very last moment Schreiber is able to prevent Leon’s suicide, but just as the pastry chef declares that he’s willing to surrender to the police, Schreiber is shot directly before his eyes. Back to being a lone fugitive, hunted by both the police and his daughter’s kidnappers, Leon’s only thought is to rescue Romy…
