“Battleship” - The legendary game is back!

Remember the times before video games conquered the world when children, instead of playing with their portable video consoles, pulled out pen and paper, drew ships of different sizes on a grid and then fired away?

The game consists of a red and a blue team each having a team captain and a celebrity crew that is divided among six ships of different sizes that are floating in two separate huge pools.

Each “ship” consists of up to five individual rubber boats and has a distinct name, such as Sport Ship, South America Ship or Police Ship.

At the start of the show, a quiz decides which team will be allowed to begin the attack. The captain of the winning team then zeroes in on a point within the grid system where he suspects an opposing ship might be and fires his guns. When the strike is a success and a boat is hit, the celebrity gets soaking wet as their boat sinks and the winning team continues with another attempt.

If all the boats making up a single “ship” have been sunk, an entertaining action match, such as catching balls with a small fishing net from the opposite side of the pool or the hilarious “penguin race”, will decide which team will be the next to attack. The aim is it to sink all of the enemy ships and win the prize!








But it’s not as easy as it sounds. Both captains sit confined in a cabin from where they only have visual contact with their own team and playing field. They must continually remain aware of the secretly placed minefields within the enemy’s grid.

If they happen to hit a mine, their own team must endure a penalty match, which might mean a slippery, intensely amusing race in rubber boots around the pool’s wet perimeter.
