Fata Morgana

Nominated three times for a Golden Rose and breaking all Belgian ratings records, “Fata Morgana” is a powerfully engaging, feel-good reality show. Every week, one selected community is challenged to a nearly impossible task that can only be accomplished if all the town’s residents join forces and work together.





The challenge is to succeed at five individual assignments related to a central theme.











In '1001 Nights', the inhabitants must transform their town into the perfect setting for Scheherazade’s tales by fulfilling these five tasks:

1. getting 1001 belly dancers to perform

2. creating a desert landscape including an oasis and a Bedouin village

3. Ali Baba and his 40 thieves conquering the town

4. staging a magic show with fakirs and fire eaters

5. conjuring up the world’s largest magic carpet – one that actually flies.






In every episode of “Fata Morgana”, a celebrity challenges the townspeople to achieve a fun, unusual and nearly impossible goal in just six days time.










The episode begins with the production team invading the town. They immediately seek out key people - ordinary people on the street – who will be coordinating the five tasks.









The team follows these key people from Monday through Friday and documents their efforts. With no budget, they are forced to rely only on people’s good will. They approach every store, manufacturer or individual that can bring them closer to realizing their goal. On Wednesday and Friday, they are joined by the show’s hosts, who check on their progress and offer their help and advice.




It is a week of hard work and pushing limits, but also a week of connecting with other people. On Saturday, Fata Morgana’s week ends with a spectacular event during which the celebrity appears to determine whether all of the difficult tasks have been completed. This final event is an extravagant public festival, a huge party unlike any the town has ever seen before…
